Do I need a SureWest Internet connection to have Digital Phone?
Yes. With Digital Phone, your voice service will run over the same connection as your Internet service.
How does SureWest Digital Phone work?
SureWest Digital Phone is based on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which enables voice signals to be transmitted in digital packets rather than by traditional, circuit-committed protocols.
How is Digital Phone different than traditional phone?
The traditional phone network, called the Public Switched Telephone Network, or PSTN, is a limited network when it comes to new and advanced features. Traditional phone service is carried over this network.
In contrast, Digital Phone (Voice over IP) uses a digital network, like the one you're using to view this Web page. Phone calls are digitized in "voice packets" that move along the network just as "data packets" do. This technology will give you crystal clear calls along with our premium features set all managed through our online Digital Phone Manager.
What if I have Internet service with another provider?
You will need to have a SureWest Internet connection to have Digital Phone. Bundling SureWest services, such as Internet and Digital Phone, will save you money.
