How to check your Voicemail

 

Voicemail is a system that records and stores voice messages left by callers when the recipient is unable to answer their phone. This works just like answering machines used to back in the day, except there is no physical device attached to your phone – it works digitally. The recipient can later retrieve the message using their phone, or by enabling a feature called “Voicemail to Email” that we will cover in another article.

To check your Voicemail on your VoIP Extension do the following:

From the extension you want to check the voicemail on, pickup the handset (take the phone off hook), and dial:

You will hear: “Please enter your passcode, followed by pound (#)“. By default your passcode is your account code followed by the extension number. 

After successfully logging into voicemail you will hear: “You have 0 new, and 0 saved messages. For advanced options press 5. To exit press star (*)

 
The advanced menu options are:
To record a greeting press 1
  • choose a greeting between 1 and 9 (these are greeting slots, most people will just press 1)
  • record your message after the tone, press # or stop talking to hear your greeting.
To choose greeting press 2
  • choose a greeting between 1 and 9 (these are slots, you can save up to 9 prerecorded voicemail greetings)
To record your Name press 3
  • At the tone, please record your name – press any key or stop talking… (this is for an IP-PBX feature for directory search, not for traditional phone service users)
To change your password press 6
  • Enter between 4-8 digits to use as a passcode
Main menu press 0.
 
To check your another extension’s voicemail using your VoIP Extension do the following:

From the extension you want to check the voicemail on, pickup the handset (take the phone off hook), and dial:

*98

You will hear: “Please enter your ID followed by pound (#)”. Now enter the extension number you would like to check the voicemail for (e.g. 1000#)

You will here: “Please enter your passcode, followed by pound (#)“. By default your passcode is your account code followed by the extension number (e.g. 33331000#). 

*Note* this other extension must be associated to your account.

Follow the prompts in the system as above. That’s it, voicemail checked – too easy right?
